In desperation, I made a restore disk from my wife's Win 10 Toshiba PC and was successful in getting Windows 8.1 working on my PC again - BUT the production activation key from mine does not work. I had now lost all of my documents, photos, email messages, etc. The System Image restore would complete about 99%, then give error code 0x80070057Īnd rebooting gave me a blue screen where no options would work. When I tried to recover back to Win 8.1 from the manufacturer's recovery partition (many times), that failed (partition appears to be gone). But I foolishly tried (many times) to restore my PC from the System Image. I should have just got a different app in its place. I tried to uninstall and re-install from the Store. A week or so later, the weatherĪpp I liked no longer worked. On 5/4/16 I made a System Image on a USB hard drive using Windows software, as a backup. Several months ago, I upgraded my Toshiba Satellite from the vendor installed Windows 8.1 to Windows 10 with no problems.
